Type 1

Do you have a “Type”? Seems like a simple question and for me it has a simple answer. My answer is NO. I see a person and decide if that is someone I want to know better and go from there. I don’t look for a type I look for an attraction.

But I seem to notice, more and more, that people (and yes I am referring more about women here) have a type that they prefer. All too often I want to ask these people, “So, how’s that working out for you?” The reason I would ask is that I cannot name a person I know who has been fixated on a type that has had any lasting success. It reminds me of Albert Einstein’s saying:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Most people I know who have a type have been married multiple times and have had even more failed relationships with their type of person. So how can this be YOUR type? If it never works out then don’t you think it is time you changed what you are looking for instead of trying to make something work that never has in the past?

I have friends who are so detailed in what they want they have lists of physical, ideological and social characteristics that define their type. And again, they find someone who has all or most of these items and yet it doesn’t work for them. NEXT. Is it possible that they are being too specific about what they think is right for them and ignoring the possibility that what they need doesn’t match the list they have?

Maybe it is good to have a general idea of what attracts you, but should you ignore or dismiss the other possibilities. I don’t think I have a type. I have been attracted to different types all my life - can’t say that has really worked for me. Maybe at 41 and single (never married) I should break down and create a list of my type... nah. Can’t bring myself to be that narrow.

Christmas Cake Recipe

*** Not mine but worth sharing

You'll need the following: a cup of water, a cup of sugar, four large eggs, two cups of dried fruit, a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of salt, a cup of brown sugar, lemon juice, nuts, and a bottle of whisky.

Sample the whisky to check for quality.

Take a large bowl. Check the whisky again. To be sure it is the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer, beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar and beat again.

Make sure the whisky is still okay. Cry another tup. Turn off the mixer. Break two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the whisky to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who cares? Check the whisky. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Spoon. Of sugar or something. Whatever you can find.

Grease the oven. Turn the cake tin 350 degrees. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Throw the bowl out of the window, check the whisky again and go to bed.

WikiLeaks - Why?

I will start by saying I have not looked deeply on either side of the WikiLeaks argument. Now for my limited view. WikiLeaks has procured documents that can compromise peoples lives, in the case of the war documents, and international relations, in the case of the State Department cables. They have decided that they have the right for some reason to make these classified documents public. Why? State secrets are not something the general public really needs to know and revelations of these kinds serve no common good when revealed. So, again, I ask - Why?

I am not going to try and answer because I have no answer. To me it just seems a power trip by a group who says we got it now we are going to flaunt it.

Now that businesses and governments are trying to stop this group from revealing secrets that where stolen from them there is a great outcry from people too afraid to identify themselves about censorship. Not only are they crying out but they are lashing out like little children against those who would stop, what I view as, an irresponsible group from doing harm to international relations and in some cases perhaps jeopardizing lives.

WHY? What good could come of this?

Anyway... that is my first response even though this has been in the news for some time.

I'm trying to get back...

I have been away for far too long. I am sorry. I started a new position at work that has cut back my writing for an undisclosed reason. And lately I have been spending my nights playing with my new dog, a 2 year old Scottie.

I also haven't had to many clear complete thoughts going on in my head. I have been, shall we say, scatterbrained. So this post is likely to go any where at anytime.

For those of you who believe in Karma, good for you. I, however, believe that Karma has something against me. Seems for every good deed I do I get multiple negative reactions. Let us say I am the poster child for No good Deed Goes Unpunished! (No detials for now).

I am reminded that we have enetered the Christmas season again not so much by all the Christmas music on the radio or the specials on TV but by the commercials. For those of you who missed my take on this last year please go back and read It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year... YEAH RIGHT!!! . For those who already read it, I still hate Kay and I Jarod is not getting any of my money again this year!

A friend of mine posted on Facebook, "Sometimes things from our past rise up and bite our a**. Mainly on an emotional level for me lately. Kinda weird but i thoght it was funny." We exchanged a few comments about doing good and getting bad in return. I said something about for everything good I do I get two bad things in return to which he told me to expect a third. Gee Thanks! But I had to tell him that my luck usually returns the bad and the ugly for the good. I'd hate to see what the third could be - smelly maybe?!?

A simple question: has anyone else noticed that the people who complain most about not wanting drama in their lives are the ones who seem to start and/or invite it the most?

I think I will stop for now and ponder Life, the Universe and Everything!

I do hope I can get back to regular posts!
